I need winter tires for my 2004 Treg... Live in snowy Canadian conditions with medium ice... Any suggestions?
I have Nokian Hak Rs on both the Touareg and the A4 Avant. I ran them last year, and just put them on for the season yesterday. I live in the Mountains of Colorado and drive about 1,000 miles/week. They are great. I couldn't ask for more from a snow tire.As winter approaches, I thought I'd revive this thread. Has anyone tried the new Nokian Hak R? $225 or so each, so not crazy, compared to Pirelli and Blizzak.
They will cost me 6.000 Nok, about 500 Euros for all four included shipment costs. Then no brainer for you....I am on 18 wheels so not that much luck..if you don't me minding asking how much you pay for it in Norway?
Do it!The is my first post and am looking to validate my winter tire plans. Just purchased a 2008 Touareg with Goodyear LS-2 tires installed on 19" Terra wheels. I'm planning to use a set of Audi Q7 OEM 18" wheels for winter use. I'm told the Audi wheels will fit on the Touareg. I also checked with local Audi and VW dealers and they say the Audi TPMS sensors are compatible.
Based on reading many posts about winter tires, I'm planning to buy Hakkapelitta R SUV tires in 255/55R-18. I have a job where I have to go out when I'm called. Wisconsin winters can be nasty.
Any concerns or recommendations with this plan?
DenverBill - I agree the Goodyear LS-2s are pretty poor. I have never seen such bad tire reviews on Tire Rack. I will probably take your recommendation for Continental Extreme Contact DWSs on the Terra 19s in the Spring. My 2008 V10 had the Goodyear LS-2s on it when I purchased it in October last year. Get rid of those; they are a sorry excuse of a tire for ANY purpose. I use 255/55-18 Blizzaks during the winter, and 275/45-19 Continental Extreme Contact DWSs the rest of the year.
